Critical Role X Disney: Performance Check

Mostly I've just always imagined Laudna as Cruella Deville and I needed to manifest that in some way.

Full disclosure I employed a lot of tracing for this piece because why shouldn't I. Allow me to cite my sources.

I came up with a new workflow for backgrounds while working on this piece. Next images will elaborate...

I started by asking trusty AI, "'DALL-E Mini" to generate an image based on the prompt "dusty fantasy mine with light shining in". This is what it gave me.

Next I adjusted the hue of the AI generated image and made it blurry so that I was only left with the overall impression of the lighting and composition.

After adding a bit of green and yellow to the composition, I started interpreting the blurry image as line art, with my imagination filling in the details.

The last step was painting over the blurry image to make the blocks of colour conform to the shapes and implied shapes of the line art. I think the result is fantastic and I'm liable to employ this method again in the future.
